Close to $1M in Counterfeit Memory Chips Discovered in Karaoke Machine Shipment at Long Beach Port


ChipCheck just found an article in the US publication “Long Beach Post” with the above title.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials, 1,932 karaoke machines arrived at the Port of Long Beach, California on May 16, 2011 in a container from China and contained fake SanDisk portable memory chips with an estimated value of $852,368.

SanDisk was contacted to inspect the chips for authenticity. After SanDisk confirmed that the components were indeed counterfeit, all the components were destroyed.
