ChipCheck just came across an interesting fact in a recent online document about the fight against counterfeit by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA).
Apparently, in 2010, the Commerce Department reported that counterfeit-part incidents among electronics manufacturers increased more than 150 percent from 2005 to 2008, from 3,369 to 8,644.
The report’s focus was military electronics; the AIA-led investigative team concentrated on the counterfeit-electronics risk in military and civilian products.
